Workplace Fundraisers - Are Staff Just Giving? Or Are They Really Engaging with Donations and Fundraising?

We’re hitting the golden quarter of the year, and thus it's time for teams to think about their holiday charity fundraiser. Again.

Everyone knows the team fundraiser is important for workplace camaraderie and morale, and there's an idea for this year: maybe it's a bike ride, maybe it's a quiz, or a pie in the face... whatever it is, the activity is ready.

But who's giving?

Going back to the same people you asked last year? Maybe they want to do something more than just donating. Perhaps they want the Tiltify experience of a fundraiser.

Today we take some standard fundraising scenarios and add the Tiltify twist to boost donations.

Here are 6 top tips to encourage donations, excitement, controversy, engagement, and connections with colleagues, "frolleagues," and "colleminemies" (colleague and enemy?).

Fun Fact: Fundraising on Tiltify leads to donation averages over $1,100 (£900/€1,000) and this is totally attributed to the donor engagement tools available.

The office bake sale

Simply set rewards as the items you want to sell (muffin, brownie, Chili chocolate cake - big in 2009, shortbread, etc.), give people the QR code, and they can buy them in the office, or you can get their address and package and send them out – The Bakesale, made better.

Casual / Super Smart Dress Day

Is this still even a thing in 2023? After the events of the past couple years, most people are probably more interested in doing a "black tie to work" day to try something new!

Either way, one person in the workplace can set up a Tiltify page, send it around the office to all who are taking part. People can pay for their entry and even give you updates on their plans if you want to ask a custom question!

Staff Adventure

From an afternoon "5km hike" to a "London to Paris bike ride," company teams like to do things together. With Tiltify, you can take registration fees as well as donations through the platform. The fundraising has started as soon as they've signed up. Best of all, everyone who takes part can use the Tiltify tools available, polls, milestones, rewards, and loads more

Charity Quiz/Trivia Night

In the pub, online, in the office, however you want to do it.

If you're not using Tiltify to fundraise as part of your quiz/trivia you're missing a trick. For one, just like the dress-down day, you can manage ticket sales, and you can even restrict the number of tickets you can sell depending on capacity. Or, you could even sell tickets to specific teams. But that's just the start.

By sending out the fundraising page ahead of time, you can really use the tools in some fun ways:

  • Use Tiltify Polls for people to vote on which round of trivia to add / get rid of.
  • Use rewards to enter into a bingo/tombola.
  • Or maybe ‘buy’ an elusive joker card to give them more points on a certain round.

That's a start but there are lots of options for creativity here. Got a remote workforce? You can also broadcast all of this and use fun animations on screen when people donate too!

CEO LOCK-IN / Pie in the Face / Lunchtime Challenge / Milestone Challenge

Set a fundraising goal to make things happen and watch the fun grow as staff donate.

  • $150 - "Silly Hat Day": Once you reach $50, the CEO will wear a ridiculous or silly hat during the all-hands meeting.
  • $300 - "Crazy Hair Day": If the donations reach $300, the CEO will sport a wacky and wild hairstyle for the entire workday.
  • $500 - "Pajama Party CEO": When you reach this milestone, the CEO will come to work wearing cozy pajamas for the day.
  • $1,000 - "Pie in the Face": If the challenge reaches $1,000, employees get the chance to throw a pie (whipped cream or custard) at the CEO's face during a fun event.
  • $1,500 - "CEO Karaoke": When the donations hit $1,500, the CEO will perform a karaoke song of the employees' choice during a lunchtime event.
  • $2,000 - "Dance-off with the CEO": At this milestone, employees can join a dance-off with the CEO, and the best dancer gets a special prize.
  • $3,000 - "Friday Afternoon Off": When you reach $3,000, everyone gets the Friday afternoon off!
