Redemption codes help the 2022 Jingle Jam to over £3.4 million
An established fundraising event raises even more by using Tiltify's redemption code functionality
The Jingle Jam began in 2011 when Lewis and Simon of The Yogscast asked fans to donate to Oxfam instead of giving them Christmas presents.
As the largest YouTube gaming channel in the world at the time, the response was tremendous — raising over $100,000, and since then, it’s only grown bigger and bigger.
In the years following, Jingle Jam has expanded to include unique live-streaming content hosted by a variety of creators from the Yogscast and beyond, as well as a specially-curated selection of games known as the Jingle Jam Games Collection, which gets sent to anyone who donates over the minimum amount.
The games—collectively worth many hundreds of pounds—are provided for free by incredibly generous video game publishers and developers.
Now a globally recognized event, Jingle Jam has raised more than $25 million for dozens of charitable causes including those focused on sustainability, conservation, war relief, accessibility in gaming and sport, cancer research, LGBTQ+ issues, combating racism, and more.
Jingle Jam 2021 in conjunction with Tiltify launched community-based fundraisers with 215 creators, charities and games companies joining The Yogscast and running their own Jingle Jam streams, raising over £480,000. Taking their 2021 total to over £3,000,000
Today, Jingle Jam is now a registered charity, a community of volunteers, content creators, games companies, and charities. But most importantly, Jingle Jam is the people: those who support the event by donating, sharing with friends, and tuning in, whether it be for the first time, or year after year.
How does Tiltify fit in to this?
In 2019, the Jingle Jam raised over $2.7 million over 4 weeks. However, the team was looking for ways to increase their fundraising and charitable efforts. In 2020, the production time was shortened to be over 2 weeks, but the Jingle Jam needed to continue to raise these incredible funds.
Solution
In 2020, the Jingle Jam team decided to move from their previous charity platform, to Tiltify to support their charity fundraising. Tiltify was able to combine existing fundraising features like polls and rewards, and custom build a revolutionary code distribution system, which now can be used by other charities too. This, combined with the ability for the Jingle Jam community to sign up and fundraise alongside the main event, set up custom donation goals, track donations in real time, and send out thank-you messages to donors. Created a new phase in the Jingle Jam journey.
